Code Club will be run every Thursday after school until 4.15. It will be for the year 5 and 6 students only. Code Club is a nationwide network of free volunteer-led after- school coding clubs for children aged 9-11. We run our club on Thursdays after school for Years 5 and 6, with the help of Mrs Cochrane and Mr Steve Coombes.
We teach programming projects, which take about an hour each, making computer games, animations and websites.
Each term the students will progress and learn more whilst at the same time using their imaginations and making creative projects. Terms 1 & 2 use Scratch to teach the basics of programming. Term 3 teaches the basics of web development using HTML and CSS. Term 4 teaches Python and so on.
The founders of Code Club believe that it can teach multi-purpose skills, such as logical thinking, problem solving, planning and design.
