Year 3 trip to the Ridgeway
November 16, 2017 @ 08:30 - 12:00
Year 3 and Year 4 recently had a visit from Steve Wallis, Senior Archaeologist at Dorset County Council, who spoke to the classes about ‘The Pit of Doom’ – the mass Viking grave that was discovered when building the Weymouth relief road.
Following on from this, Steve is now going to take the children to the site of where the grave was discovered as well as giving them a tour along part of the Ridgeway to show other parts of Viking settlements and what life was like for the Vikings settling in Dorset.
• Year 4 will be doing this trip on Wednesday 15 November
• Year 3 will be doing this trip on Thursday 16 November
There is no cost for the trip as the South Dorset Ridgeway Trust are funding the transport for the school.
Children will need to be prepared to be outside all morning, regardless of the weather, so please ensure that they wear warm, comfy clothes, waterproofs and comfortable walking boots/wellies.
The children will be back in school for usual lunchtime arrangements.
