Year 6 cycle skills session

July 5

Child on Bike

Further to my letter regarding the primary college bike ride, we will be running a cycle skills session with the whole class on Friday 5 July 2019.

This cycle skills session will be entirely playground based and will focus on making sure everyone has chance to practice their bike control skills. We will also be encouraging everyone to be very aware of their surroundings while they are cycling, and it will be an introduction to riding with a large group of people.

Your child needs to bring their own bike to school on the day. Please make sure that bikes are in good condition. If you find any problems, you need to make sure they are fixed before the session. If in doubt please take the bike to be checked at a bike shop. Pupils will only be able to take part if their bikes are in a roadworthy state. We will not have time to fix bikes before the session. If you haven’t already, please can you ensure that you have completed the slip on the previous letter, a copy is attached to the letter being sent home.

Sustrans recommends that your child wears a cycle helmet. If they do please make sure that it fits correctly, covering their forehead and without wobbling and is in good condition.
