This week, Year 6 had two virtual visits. The first visit was from the children’s author Bali Rai who talked to us about his life, his inspirations for writing, his love of history and of science.  His first story was about a zombie pike which lived in the classroom, eating all the children that he didn’t like! Bali told us about how he now tries to tell the stories of people who played an important part, researching stories that we may not have heard before.

Our second virtual visit was for Primary Futures, where we hope to introduce the children to people with inspiring jobs which perhaps the children have never heard of before.  They met:

  • Frances who is a Senior Planning Policy Officer for Dorset Council.
    • Her advice was: Do what you love and your work will be enjoyable. Be passionate about your job!
  • Gordon who is an engineer (Consultant Senior Client Representative) who works on the installation of wind turbines for Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Taiwan.
    • His advice was: Be kind to people and listen to your teachers because they are sharing their knowledge with you and teaching you about the big wide world.
  • Sandra who is a Trading Lifecycle Senior Associate at JP Morgan in Bournemouth.
    • Her advice was: You can do anything you put your mind to, you just have to work hard.
