Thank you to our visitors who came to share their experiences of working in STEM with Year 6.

We loved hearing about the work that is carried out by BT Openreach, keeping us all connected to the internet: climbing poles to reconnect wires; finding earthing problems caused by trees rubbing against wires; finding and repairing storm damage. The technology used to help these repairs included using apps to find houses and the routes of their cables, using a phone to check lines, even special gels in connecting crimps.

We also learned about how tanks are maintained and built for the armed forces, with great descriptions of the technology used for firing ammunition. We learned about different coatings that can be painted onto armoured vehicles to help avoid detection, and night vision, and heat detection.

A very big thank you to our volunteers who shared their exciting jobs with us. We very much appreciate your time.
