This year the Summer Reading Challenge will be part of the celebrations marking the centenary of Roald Dahl’s birth.

Children aged 4 – 11 will be invited to join the Challenge at their local library and will receive their own collector’s folder. As they read their way through six books participants will be given six limited edition Quentin Blake collector cards, each celebrating a popular Dahl theme: Mischief, Invention, Adventure, Wordplay, Child Champions, and Friendship.

All children completing the Challenge will receive a medal and a personalised certificate will be sent to their school for presentation during the autumn term.

To inspire and encourage children as they take part in the challenge there will be a programme of activities and events in libraries.

The Challenge will run in all Dorset Libraries, Mobile Libraries and Community Managed Libraries from 16 July until 10 September.
