Key Stage One have enjoyed lots of World Book Day activities this week.
On Thursday, we all took part in a live author event with Eileen Brown, the Author of Handa’s Surprise. Year One had been learning all about the story in English and were very excited about learning and listening to Eileen’s other books about Handa and Akeyo. Year Two loved the African dancing that we took part in linked to the books.
In the afternoon, both classes took part in activities from different authors. Year One took part in a zoom call from Catherine Rayner, who read some new stories and taught us about being illustrators. Year Two were joined by Michael Rosen and had a wonderful afternoon full of laughter.
On Friday, The children came into school wearing their favourite books on a t-shirt. all of the classroom grownups read their favourite stories and the children explored some storytelling, story making and book related activities in both classrooms.
We loved exploring new books, matching our story jars to their books and listening to lots of new stories from all over the world.
